Installation Requirements

1 Framing Requirements ▼

Install double row of 1-5/8" (41mm) steel studs at 24" O.C. with minimum 1" (25mm) gap between rows. Use 15 mil minimum gauge steel.

2 Cross Bracing ▼

5/8" gypsum board pieces 9-1/2" × 12" fastened to back of studs with three Type S wallboard screws per stud. Maximum vertical spacing 48" O.C. Alt: steel runner min 4-1/4" with two No. 8 × 1/2" self-drilling screws.

3 Gypsum Application ▼

Apply 5/8" gypsum panels parallel to studs using 1" Type S screws at 8" O.C. on edges and 12" O.C. at intermediate studs. Stagger joints 24" on opposite sides.
